hello ... im not a techie but gusto ko lang po sanang mag inquire ...
i heard kasi wala daw virus pag mag use ka ng linux? how true?
Yes, I've been using linux for the lat 5 years and haven't encountered a virus on my system. Yun nga lang you also need to know on how to protect your system. Ang virus talaga sa linux in my own opinion is the user. Kung hindi mo alam gagawin mo don't force it kasi it will only break your linux system. Ang best way to learn to use linux is to ask fellow linux users(forums) and how they are able to install or use an application. In my own experience sa sobrang daming distro ng linux madaming nagkakamaling mag mixed out ng packages between different distros.(Big Oooops)
Advice ko lang research more before installing or doing something on your linux box. I've learned it the hard way. ![]()
For newbie in linux I suggest to use Ubuntu distros, it's a proven distro for users new in linux. I have seen it in my own eyes at my work when all the staff in the office are forced to use linux. Yun nga lang every now and then they will ask for help, pero in the long run they can use it as if they were experts na(Office tools, surf net, emails etc.)
Hope this helps you to decide on whether to use linux or stick with windows.
God Bless Always!!!

almost all linux distributions are free. Hehehe.

yes, I use Ubuntu dual-boot with Win7

Currently using Ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop.
Wanted to dual-boot with Windows 7 - but can't do.
All my hard drive is formatted for Ubuntu, and there is just too much to do to dual-boot the laptop. So, I stayed faithful to Ubuntu and am happy still.

it depends. .. are you aiming to be a linux admin someday? if yes. .i would suggest use slackware. . .that's my first and current distro. you will be familiar with the command line at once since you need to configure your box from time to time manually. ..
have a look here:
